Do food processors make food taste different?
Category: Food Processors
The reason I ask, is because I want to make wantons. The ones at the chinese place I always go to are just wanton shells with cream cheese and imitation lobster meat. But they are really sweet. I made some once and they didn’t taste that well. I asked the people at the restaurant, and they said it’s just cream cheese and lobster in a food processor. No sugars or anything added. Would the processor really make it taste different compared to just cutting the lobster meat with a knife, like I did?

There are very few foods that change taste when chopped in a food processor (onions become bitter). More likely you’re using different brands of ingredients or they have a secret ingredient they’re not telling you–I would think it’s some combination thereof.

Nope. Might depend on what kind of cream cheese they use, how the lobster is cooked (fresh or canned), and there may be something else added (sauce, spice, etc.). They’re not going to tell you exactly how to make them because then they’ll lose a customer!

sure they can make the same food taste different. ever notice the difference in pre-shreded cheese and when you shred it yourself? or some recipies will call for you to use wood instead of metal mixers……….this all may be strange to others but i believe it.

Food processors are great for controlling the chopping of foodstuffs. Maybe your hand cut lobster meat wasn’t fine enough. Also for things like salsa and guacamole, it can chop coarsely. I have a tiny kitchen but have a hand held blender with attachments for smoothies, a whisk and a blade. Great for fine cut onion and garlic and, although, I’m not a good cook, I find it really useful. I think it was about £35 and I love it. Give it a try!

Yes the food processor would make the meat lose moisture.
